Getting Creative: Bye, Bye Boring Shoes

Last weekend, like most weekends, I got sucked into an email from Old Navy announcing a sale they were having. One weekend it was $5.00 running shorts (yes, please) The next weekend jeans for $15.00 (I'll be there!) This past weekend it was women's flats for $10.00, (reg.$23). Well being a mom of soon to be two little boys I can't run around in cute heels all the time like my college days, so $10.00 flats here I come! As usual the manager is there to greet me, "Good morning, you didn't bring your son today?" Oh gosh, I come here an embarrassing amount of times don't I? I responded with asking her how her trip to Cabo was... (Why do I know that!?) Greetings over, I end up choosing two pairs of shoes, and as usual, a shirt for Copelan.

When home I take the shoes out and think.. Even though they were only $10.00 they are still boring. Hmm. Which lead to this.

See, boring.

My little shoe inspector

 Lookin' great Cope.

So I began by taping the shoes with painters tape but I'm sure any tape would do, just make sure it is REALLY stuck.

Tape the soles too.

I chose my colors, which conveniently I had around the house. I used a blue wall paint called Agave on the cream shoes, which we had left over from painting Copelan's room. On the magenta shoes I used a rosemary gold spray paint. I wasn't sure if either was going to work, but I took my chances.

The blue wall paint turned out to be a matte since it was egg shell texture, so I got a little ghetto with it and painted my clear gloss nail polish over it for a shine.
And hey, it worked!

Below are the finished product! I couldn't be more happy with the result and my not-so-boring shoes!

Photography: Weddings and Brides

Katie and Bobby Lubojasky:
In November 2012 I had the honor of doing my first, and potentially last, wedding. It was a wonderful time, it was just... hard :) I did absolutely love the opportunity to do Katie's bridal portraits. I think brides are one of my favorites to shoot, they are all dolled up and happy! (Unlike a crying pooping baby, lol, or engagement session with a groom who won't smile) Anyhoo, I loved the way Katie's portraits turned out!

The wedding, though a challenge, was a great time as well! I probably took 1,400 shots! Below are a FEW.

Lyv the flower girl. This little one holds a special place in my heart!

Ashley Sirna:
In April of 2012, one of my best friends since high school, Ashley Adams (now Sirna) married the man of her dreams in a beautiful outdoor wedding. I was not the photographer, as I was a bridesmaid, but I had to snap some shots anyway.

 Beautiful Bride

 Her dress was amazing.

And of course the rings were perfect!

Photography: Catching Up with Newborns

These are only a few of the many newborns I have done over the past few years. I can't even find the ones I did of my son Copelan just a year and a half ago, boo.

Lyv and Cy, one of my favorite photos ever. Just so innocent and sweet.

 Sam and Lilly

The smirk on Sam's sweet little face is my favorite.

Miranda and Caleb, love.

This handsome little guy turned 1 this summer.

Photography: Catching Up with Pregnant Ladies...

As I said in my previous post, I have a lot of catching up to do in posting some of my work so here we go.

Our friends Debra and Dustin Dickinson welcomed their son Devon in October 2011, so these are a little dated but I still love them.

These were taken behind our house here in Roanoke (north Ft. Worth)

We also went to Downtown Roanoke and took a few pics, below is at "Babe's"

Lindsey and Cody have been our friends since college and I have always enjoyed the times I get to do photos for their family. Lindsey was pregnant with Cy who was born June 2012

Photographing Favorites, My Sis and Her Love.

A few weeks ago on one of my many recent trips to Austin, my sister Katie asked me to take her and fiance Karl's engagement pics after dinner one night. Spur of the moment, I like it; I love the rush. After eating we hurried back to Katie's place (after a pregnancy craving stop at Dairy Queen) to prepare for pics before sundown. Karl had the perfect shirt in his car, Katie put on a new skirt and a necklace of mine and we were ready to go in 15 mins flat. Out the door to a cute little park near downtown Buda we went.

The night couldn't have been more perfect, except a little relief from the heat would have been nice. I am beyond happy for these two who have been in love since sophomore year of high school; and I am so excited for Karl to be part of our family. The wedding is going to be a.maze.ing.
Below are a few pics from our night.

My personal faves are the two below

This last one was just a paparazzi pic I snapped when she wasn't looking, beautimas.
