Getting Creative: Bye, Bye Boring Shoes

Last weekend, like most weekends, I got sucked into an email from Old Navy announcing a sale they were having. One weekend it was $5.00 running shorts (yes, please) The next weekend jeans for $15.00 (I'll be there!) This past weekend it was women's flats for $10.00, (reg.$23). Well being a mom of soon to be two little boys I can't run around in cute heels all the time like my college days, so $10.00 flats here I come! As usual the manager is there to greet me, "Good morning, you didn't bring your son today?" Oh gosh, I come here an embarrassing amount of times don't I? I responded with asking her how her trip to Cabo was... (Why do I know that!?) Greetings over, I end up choosing two pairs of shoes, and as usual, a shirt for Copelan.

When home I take the shoes out and think.. Even though they were only $10.00 they are still boring. Hmm. Which lead to this.

See, boring.

My little shoe inspector

 Lookin' great Cope.

So I began by taping the shoes with painters tape but I'm sure any tape would do, just make sure it is REALLY stuck.

Tape the soles too.

I chose my colors, which conveniently I had around the house. I used a blue wall paint called Agave on the cream shoes, which we had left over from painting Copelan's room. On the magenta shoes I used a rosemary gold spray paint. I wasn't sure if either was going to work, but I took my chances.

The blue wall paint turned out to be a matte since it was egg shell texture, so I got a little ghetto with it and painted my clear gloss nail polish over it for a shine.
And hey, it worked!

Below are the finished product! I couldn't be more happy with the result and my not-so-boring shoes!

Photography: Weddings and Brides

Katie and Bobby Lubojasky:
In November 2012 I had the honor of doing my first, and potentially last, wedding. It was a wonderful time, it was just... hard :) I did absolutely love the opportunity to do Katie's bridal portraits. I think brides are one of my favorites to shoot, they are all dolled up and happy! (Unlike a crying pooping baby, lol, or engagement session with a groom who won't smile) Anyhoo, I loved the way Katie's portraits turned out!

The wedding, though a challenge, was a great time as well! I probably took 1,400 shots! Below are a FEW.

Lyv the flower girl. This little one holds a special place in my heart!

Ashley Sirna:
In April of 2012, one of my best friends since high school, Ashley Adams (now Sirna) married the man of her dreams in a beautiful outdoor wedding. I was not the photographer, as I was a bridesmaid, but I had to snap some shots anyway.

 Beautiful Bride

 Her dress was amazing.

And of course the rings were perfect!
