Life Lately: Crew and Me: Crew Pics

I knew this year would fly by because of all the transitions we had made, moving, apartment living, building and moving again. You are probably thinking, it's September what is she saying "a year"? I am marking my year by Crew's birthday in October because that's when things really went crazy around the Hafner house. It's been 11 months and it did go by too fast as expected, and I can't believe I'm already making birthday plans. It makes me kind of sad because I wonder, did I soak up all the memories I could over the past year? I hope I didn't let time get away from me and ignore some of Crew's achievements as an infant. I did crunch my iPhone in our old couch recliner and lost all of Crew's milestones I had recorded in the notes section of my phone, so his baby book might be a tad fudged (hashtag mom fail).

With big brother away at school on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a few hours Crew and I are able to have some time together which I'm really enjoying. The moments without a toddler in tow are so... quiet! Thursday we went to downtown Roanoke and took a few photos for Crew's birthday invitations. I'm kind of behind the ball on that, second child probs. It wasn't easy doing this solo, usually I have Mark to position him and make him laugh but I think I did okay :) One of these should work for his invitation, not bad for 10 minutes, mission accomplished!

Life Lately: A Personal Post about Preschool

It was already the first Tuesday in September and time for Copelan to begin his adventures at preschool, or "Mother's Day Out". He was super excited and I was super nervous. I wasn't nervous for him, I was worried I wasn't going to pack to right things, find his classroom, etc. WELL the super cute "preschool" sized monogrammed Pottery Barn back pack I ordered him weeks in advance turned out to be the correct size for a kitten, not a child, and doesn't even hold his take home folder. Secondly, I wasn't aware he needed a nap mat, the paper said he could bring a blanket. After Meet the Teacher night I was clearly aware he needed a nap mat and did not have time to order one online. They don't sell those wonderful things at common stores of course, why would they?! I called around and Walmart had a "Kinder Mat", a lovely red and blue plastic pad. So that's what Copelan has. He is the ghetto kid in class with the crinkly water-proof pad. After I tried so hard for him to look cool (lol, he's 2, I need to stop I know) he is the kid in class with the old backpack, the water bottle that leaks and has his name written in permanent marker (not a cool label), and a plastic nap mat. We will be saving our cool stuff for kindergarten.

Copelan was excited for school and no tears were shed at drop off. He has a lot of learning to do in regards to sharing and communication with others so this will be good for him and Mark and I are both excited to see him grow!

Photography: 1 Year Smash Cake Session: Grayson

A few weekends ago I did a smash cake session with the handsome Grayson and his parents, Rachel and Adam. Grayson arrived fresh out of a nap so it took a little while for him to warm up to the camera; but once he did, the smiles couldn't be stopped. How cute is his smash cake outfit!?
